I did average 38.7mpg though on that tank (Road Trip app fill to fill) and that includes going up and down the mountain so pretty good, stuck behind muppets most of the time.

Can I hijack this thread from the other angle. I got 14.7mpg over a 20miles run in the SQ and a fun 20 miles they were!

I bet. Nice options there. I was chatting with an SQ7 Brit owner in the hotel car park at Val Thorens last week - anyone on the forum (previously had an S6 and Q7 if I remember)? Anyway the noise of it in a low ceiling basement car park was lovely.

I was considering driving to the Alps next year (Les Gets) does anyone know what the rules are in France regarding chains/winter tyres. About 10k short of the resort I saw the signs which I think mean they are mandatory. Not massively keen on put scratching chains on 22” wheels.

I’m not a legal expert but I believe that the police can insist on you having snow chains fitted up the mountains. I saw similar signs. When I was there I was OK on winter tyres (no chains) in light covering of slush on road / snow falling say only 1cm on road. But it was -4C so freezing. But later on it was chaos on the roads. Anything with summer tyres was failing to get traction uphill. People in winter tyres were OK and others were blocking the road whilst putting snow chains on. Km’s of queues.... I was surprised how quickly it all ground to a halt. All the 4x4s, bus’s etc were stuck anyway as blocked by other cars.
