Hi there. I’ve no idea where to put this as there are millions of sub groups but admin please put it where it should go and hopefully I’ll find it to see what people say.
Anyway I have a 2004 B6 A4 Quattro avant 1.9TDI 130. I’ve replaced the air con pump a few years ago due to a rattle. Just this week I’ve noticed the replacement now making the same noise. I can’t be bothered to find out why and don’t use the air con so I just want to get rid of it. I’ve seen some people fitting a shorter belt to bypass it. Can anyone recommend a belt? Has anyone done this? I just want the car to get through this year and everything else runs great on it. Getting rid of the air con would be ideal for me. Any advice would be greatly received. Thank you.
    Daniel.

Hi there. Thanks for the reply! I’ve been looking on eurocarparts. It would appear that they did a non aircon version and I can just put the none aircon belt on. Is that essentially what you are saying? Sorry if I’m being numb here. I presumed they all had aircon you see.

Also can I just leave the aircon pump in situ? Literally just bypass the pulley? Will my heaters work? Obviously not aircon. Never use it anyway which is probably why I’ve killed it. Regards.
    Daniel.

Crasher can you also advice...Can the belt be changed from above in the street or do need to get it on a ramp. I can get a belt from euro - Dayco? Or....Should I go genuine?
I would like to swap it out ASAP. Thanks again.

Now I am at work I can dig a little deeper into this using work systems rather than the system I can access at home on my iPad and I have deleted the stuff before as it was inaccurate.

All you have to do is remove the AC belt. I have a 2005 3B AVB on one of my lifts at the moment having a new front pipe/cat and that still uses a separate AC belt.

Well absolutely right you were Crasher. I got a new 6 rib 1125mm belt from euro for £13. Don’t usually buy non genuine but this Dayco one seems ok. Whipped the old belt off and put this one on. It’s perfect. No noise and aircon just sits doing nothing. You can feel the play in the air con pulley. I can honestly say I never ever use the aircon so I’m not the slightest bit bothered. Heaters work so that’s what matters. For reference for anyone else my car is a 2004 1.9tdi 130 A4 Quattro avant B6 if anyone is wanting to do the same.
