My pedal was sticking halfway and although it would lift if i put my foot under it , I've discovered the slave cylinder has been leaking , soiling the fluid like burnt ash , and now its having a complete new clutch in the morning at a costly price .
I've chosen to fit LUK replacement as I know both Sachs and Luk are OEM . I just hope now all goes well and it gets fitted , solving the issue . Garage mechanic showed me the outside (bleed nipple ) of the slave cylinder (as its inside the bell housing mostly, and just the bleed valve showing) and it was soaked like dirty black fluid . I have done 181k on the original clutch so I really cannot complain for wear and tear .

Still needs a tiny bit more bleeding I fear , a tiny bit notchy than it should be at engaging, especially 1st gear , and pedal could be more pressurised and return better , but mechanic said it wasnt easy to bleed , I'm sure these bleed better from the slave cylinder back , I will ask him .

In all honesty I think it would be best to flush the whole system at a main VW garage . Its a fixed price and they use a pressurised system to push old out and new fluid in .
