Ok, I’ve checked online in MyAudi and it says that the pan roof would have been checked at 2 years of age or 40k miles, which ever first. The cars only done 33k miles so that must mean that the roof was checked 2 years ago, then presumably it wouldn’t be checked last year, but is due to be looked at again on the service due this month?

Think you will need to show that the service was actually done and paid for, about Ł130 if my memory is correct.
    Give it a go....good luck.

    Hi Minnie

I'm sorry to hear of your drama.

I recently experienced the same issue with a '61 plate Škoda Yeti, which I investigated and resolved. I documented my approach and remediation, but at nearly 1MB, the document is too big to attach to his forum (yup, that's a whole megabyte). Search for "Leaking Panoramic Roof - The Cause and the Cure" (with the quotes) and you'll find it on one of the Yeti forums.

Although the tale doesn't relate to an Audi, the roof is common across a range of VAG products, so there is a high probability that it's relevant to you.

Caution though, it is a lengthy and detailed document, so I suggest that you just read the summary first, then read it again before wading into the detail.

To summarise, the repair may be even simpler than you could dream of, but drying the vehicle out properly may be a challenge.

Good luck, and post back if this hits the spot.

    Best regards

Hi 'United' I would be very interested in the article, but I can't access it it in the Skoda forum without becoming a member (which I could do...). Is there any where else I can find the article? Thanks in advance!

    Hi @Still Grinning

It was re-posted on another forum for that very reason. Try this link:

    Shout if you're still stuck.

    Best regards

You are not alone - my 2014 A6 at 3 yrs and 2 months developed the same sunroof frame leak (water ingress from front sunroof area, often running down the driver or passenger pillar and out into the footwell). Leak developed around the time of the first frosts of the year but could be coincidental. We pushed Audi for warranty fix which they relented after I offered to pay the investigation fee. Having a full dealer service history was an advantage here and admitted as such by the service staff. My contribution to the thread is
    1) pester for warranty repair, especially if you have full dealer service history. It's a known weakness in the sunroof frame that is easily to differentiate from a blocked drain tube.
    2) keep an eye on it after repair after frosts, as 9 months after the first sunroof frame replacement, and the first rain after the first hard frost, ours has developed a leak again!
    3) keep your receipt - and check carefully for any leaks as the anniversary of the repair's warranty approaches!
    4) try and catch it early to avoid interior trim damage from the water. Our car was in the repair shop for 3 months and the interior went mouldy, and had to wait for new interior trim to come in stock

    Hi A6Southwest,

Sadly, Audi were having none of it for my roof repair. Despite a full Audi Main Dealer service history (including 2, if not 3 Sunroof services) in only 50,000 mies. The best I managed was a big discount on the labour from the Audi garage as I have been a regular customer for many, many years.

Perhaps Audi weren't interested because my car was just over 5 years old? In any event it is clear that the sunroof is not fit for purpose, given the number of failures that are being reported across the VW group (probably all made by the same sub-manufacturer), and even more depressing to hear your new one failed again after only 9 months. My new sunroof carries a 2 year guarantee..... but only on the parts, not the labour.... Hmmm...

For sure it has spoiled an otherwise stonking car (BiTDI), and it would deffo put me of having another Audi with a sunroof, although oddly, it wouldn't put me off having another Audi!

Hoping your 3rd sunroof fares better than your previous 2, and that mine lasts at least another 5 years!!
