I find the PQ46 platform is very sensitive to wheel alignment and is something we are finding is common to all VAG vehicles that use an electric rack rather than hydraulic such as the Golf 5 with the very closely related PQ35 platform.

Like I say it does seem to be different much smoother and in fact quieter on the road or it does to me lol .....

On his set up all areas were in green and well within tolerance but I put the steering wheel in the place I wanted and it was still all OK just a small adjustment on each side, and looking at him doing it is was very small and the distance seemed to be the same both sides...

Will see how it goes but I am VERY happy it looks like the tyre was the only casualty....

Funny though the local council look to have filled in the long rut in since Sunday when I last went down there... and low ad behold the cat's eye which I think damaged the tyre is now very flush with the tarmac..... Wonder if someone else did the same and reported it?

The roads around Nottingham are in a shocking state, I can't speak for the rest of the UK but a few weeks back I spent a week in Norf Wales around Carnarvon and I hardly saw a pot hole or poor piece of tarmac even on back roads around the mountains but the A610 from the M1 into Nottingham is a disgrace with pot holes, ridges and sunken areas all breaking up almost continuously. Instead of driving looking ahead you have to spend too much time looking at the road to avoid bursting a tyre.

According to the local paper they are supposed to be doing this main road.... yeah right... must have had hundreds of claims of the last 5 years on that stretch, one hole in the dip was at least a foot deep... bear in mind this road is always full of motorbikes, hit that your dead!

They have been out loads of times an stuck some tarmac in the potholes, lasts about a week....

It does look like the rut I think I went down has been filled in, could not see it yesterday or the raised cat's eye....

I was out earlier on the A610 and there was a bit of congestion and I could see a council truck and they had a lane close and I thought yey, they are fixing that pot hole near the pedestrian crossing.... Nope, they were putting in the bumpy section for blind people. Talking of those, I noticed that Sainsburys car park has them... why would a blind person be on their own in Sainsburys car park?

I found out a long time ago around this time of year councils HAVE to get rid of all there money that the government and tax payers give them before April, if they don't spend more than they had in the last year they don't get it next year..... think it is called a fiddle....

I have heard that as well, if it is true it's a stupid rule, if councils save money they should be rewarded, not penalised. In this day and age it does not make sense.

    It's a joke....

I always remember when we went to see the development plans for a load of houses they have built behind my Mother house, big houses and one, half a million job is bang smack outside my Mom's back door... I turned around to the lady at the council and asked a simple question " SO, what you are saying is the developers have already paid bribes to the the council" and with no hesitation she replied "YES!" I could not really answer that lol

The whole estate was built and people moving in about 3 months BEFORE the planning was actually accepted.....
