Hey guys what is your opinion on these engines??
What does people think of the bhp/torque of these engines?
What is the best sweet spot/rev range with them??
Because I have driven a few of them now but I'm still unsure where is optimum torque range??
Can any of you give me a heads up on what to look out for with these cars?

What is the pro's and con's with these cars that yous know of

    Cheers

    Hi

I can’t say for definite what’s it like on the GTD but on the 150bhp diesel you don’t get the power surge in these like you used to with the old PD diesels. The latest Diesel engines run very smooth almost like a petrol engine so the acceleration is just there more of the time if you see what I mean.

    Regards

    Scott

I traded in my 56reg Volvo v50 (140hp diesel) for a golf with the 150bhp diesel in March, when I test drove the golf it seemed pretty guttless in the 1k-2krev range, and then woke up above 2.5k. Likewise my car when I took delivery. What I did was take it out of 'sport' mode, and set it for 'normal', which transformed it. Floor the accelerator at 1k revs, and it takes off like a frightened rabbit. That's more like a diesel should behave!!! I would have liked a bit more toque of the GTD, but now feel in no way short changed
