Hi guys, has anyone else had this bizarre experience?

I bought a brand new 2013 "63" reg Q5 2.0 TFSI S-Line Plus from the main Audi dealer in Sheffield. It had its first and second service by the same dealer so as to not invalidate the warranty.
It then had its first and second MOT done by an independent Audi specialist in Sheffield.

So it has only been in a garage 4 times in its life at 2 different places. As it has only done 15,000 in nearly 5 years it has not even had a service since the second service by the main agents.

Recently I went to Leicester and an array of warning lights came on, so I took it to the Audi specialist for investigation. After changing a front wheel sensor, which did not fix the problem, they now tell me that some of the wiring harness to the front wheels has been taped up (?).

This is bizarre as my car has only ever been to the Audi dealer for the two warranty services and the independent Audi specialist for two MOTs.

Any ideas who or why anyone would tamper with the wiring or if anyone else has had the same problem? I now face a bill for two front wheel wiring harnesses and investigation.

Needless to say, I am not impressed.

    Hi again.

In summary, I have had the car from new and know exactly when and where my car has been worked on. But the front wheels wiring loom has been cut and taped back up on both sides. As a result the computer thinks the wheel is static, the ABS does not work, the headlight levelling does not work and the parking brake and parking sensors all do not work with the appropriate dashboard warning lights lit up.

    Either:-

    1. The car came from the factory with the with a hacked about wiring loom
    2. When the car had the first 2 services the main agent cut the cables, rewired something and taped it up on both sides. Do they really do mods like this?
    3. When the independent agents carried out the 2 MOTs at some point they cut the cables and taped it up.

All 3 options seem highly unlikely and yet I have seen it with my own eyes. Has anyone else (preferably an experienced Audi mechanic) got any ideas why this could have been done? Has anyone come across these looms taped up as well as I can’t see why only my car should have this problem? Thanks.

I have gone through my paperwork and I collected my car in September 2013 from the Audi main agent in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

I then had an urgent product recall from Audi November 2013 which did not say what was being changed or why. The work was carried out in December 2013. That must be the offending repair. So presumably other Audi Q5s purchased at the same time had the same mod which is now causing my electrical problem which is dangerous.
The taped up loom is on both sides of the car behind the wheels and easily visible if the wheels are turned hard left or right.

Am I just unlucky or have other Audi Q5 owners had the same problem? Unfortunately, not enough Audi owners follow this forum.
If a standard loom is fitted would that not undo the “recall repair”?
