    Can anybody help with an intermitent power problem on my diesel engine .
    The car drives normally most of the time,but after stopping at traffic lights or junctions when you pull away the power suddenly dies and car only moves at 20 miles an hour but will change up and reach 40 miles tops.Have had three diagnostics done and all show bad solonoids and EGR valve plus booster valve.A diesel specialist carried out a full test but could not pinpoint any obvious fault codes Suggested to have a ECU test as it seems to be an electrical problem as when it clears the car drives at full power. Other suggestions were possible fuel pump.
    The problem gets worse when under load whilst towing my caravan when the car eventuarly goes into Lmp Mode,which eventualy clears after switching off and the next day drives fine;

    Maybe sticky turbo vanes, maybe Throttle control flap, do you have VCDS if not try to get the fault codes from the garage or the paperwork from them it would help you a lot on here as no one can physically see your car anyway

    I had the same symptoms in my '02 Allroad 2.5TDI. After wasting money on several experts I pulled out the turbo and found the vanes jamming on rust in the housing. A good clean and coat of anti-seize has cured it and now has 280,000km on it. Removal is pretty easy and if you remove the 3 studs to the exhaust pipe using lock nuts the exhaust doesn't get in the way.
