So even as factory fitted rmc and highline clocks map in dis won’t work?

I've got a colour DIS and RMC from factory (on 13 reg Avant, CDUD engine).
My red line changes as described by few other posters and my DIS shows satnav directions rather thank the full map. Can post pics if you want.
I don't have VCDS but OBDeleven and provide the module scans if needed (just let me know which ones as grabbing them all is not as simple as it is with VCDS /at least to my knowledge/).

As far as I know this requires the mmi plus/4g. The dis will only show compass, directions and street name but not full map.
For U.K. spec cars you can only get the colour dis as part of the tech pack which included the mmi plus.

The maps on dis wasn’t available on the prefacelift. This was a facelift addition and requires the new mmi with the nvidia tegra chips to work. Also the reason why things like vim coding don’t work as the architecture is completely different.

Why did they put fibre optic cable from rmc to highline clocks these serve no pourpose unless you can have maps

Could it be sending information like speed, street names, direction across the fibre cable?

My pre facelift with black and white dis showed street names and other info from the sat nav so it’s probably coming from the foc

My monochrome showed street names but the don’t have FOC am at caravan so struggling to do some tests roll on tomorrow evening

Is there an engineering menu in the rmc unit? Or maybe some coding somewhere(5f)?
Maybe something needs turned on In there for information to flow through fibre optic.
