    Hi
Need help please. I Just changed the hex key on the oil pump on my 2008 passat 2.0 tdi and now the car wont restart, I took the sump off and loosened the turbo cooler pipe to get to the sump bolts and put the lock carrier into the service position, put the car back together and now all the instrument cluster warming lights are on theres a warning flashing for oil pressure and the car just clicks away when I try to start the engine, cant even open and close the parking brake. Could I have pulled out a multi plug that would cause all these problems? any help please.

    Thanks

A VCDS scan might help identify something wrong or not connected after the oil drive key job.

Another obvious one but did you reconnect the oil level sensor on the sump?

How did you change the hex key? It's not just the key that is a problem - did you replace the balance shaft that the key is driven by as the keys wear the hole round also? Both key and shaft hole are inferior and wear each other for different reasons. What did you disconnect exactly and why did you need to put the front of the car into the service position?

Also continued cranking of one of these engines in a no start situation will bring on the low oil pressure warning after which it is pointless to continue cranking the engine. Once the warning comes on stop cranking, switch off and try again.

Often, as it did with mine, coincidental failure of the in tank lift pump occurs at the same time as a major job - usually because the timing of a lot of the other jobs necessary falls during the pumps end of life range.

Disconnection of the battery for any length of time will invoke a few dash lights which reset after a short drive such as EPS, traction control, steering angle warnings.

Clicking with no engine movement when trying to start would be your starter motor.
