I have an S3 its only 6 Months old but all 4 Hubs are completely rusty. I think this is shocking on a high value brand like Audi. How do I stand will getting the Hubs re painted under Warranty

    You donít!

They are made of steel for a reason. I think they are zinc coated to maintain the factory look in transit etc but after they get hot or chemical cleaners have been used on them it will burn off. All discs on all cars with steel brakes are like this.

Your discs do look bad, mine aren't that bad and the car is coming up for 2 years. As above, paint them. Hammerite works quite well.

High cost, not sure about high value; as above, clean and paint them this time and consider coated discs when they're due a change:

Even worse corrosion will be found on things like drive shaft hubs , wheels brg hubs and other suspension parts. These parts used to be painted but are now left unprotected . This is not a problem until wheel brg replacement time ( c-clip seized with rusty hubs). At one time the difference between a ford and a VAG car was that VAG parts where painted but they are now the same as Fords. Alloy wheels can be seized to the hubs very quickly making wheel changing difficult .

We bought a new Up a few years ago and within the first few months of ownership I sprayed all the black steelwork (subframes, springs etc.) with Dynax S50, still no sign of rust or flaking black paint underneath. I had the brake drums off last month and cleaned and painted them as they had a dusting of primer on from new and were rusting.

Thanks for for your reply, but I actually strongly disagree with you. My S3's Hubs should definitely NOT be rusting after 6 Months. Yes most Production cars have Hubs made from Steel for a reason, they give the best compromise of cost/weight/fatigue life/etc. If they were painted with paint such as hammerite they wouldn't rust after 6 Months. My partner has a 13 plate Fiesta ant those hubs have no sin of rust. This is totally unacceptable from Audi. I like to keep my cars in prestine condition but the hubs are shocking.

I also like keeping mine as clean as possible mate. My A7 is nowhere near as bad as yours and itís just passed 60k and about to have new pads and discs. My wifeís Touareg is 5000 miles old and her discs are similar to yours. Mine has only ever been hand washed by me, hers has been through hand car washes where they spray god knows what on to the car. Iím not saying you have done the same or anything similar, but if attempting a claim, Audi will.
