    But then wouldn’t that affect the recirculation?

    Is this tee supposed to be open?

    Yes it stops recirculation of sooty exhaust gasses back in your engine . Amen .

    I read somewhere that it helps to lower the temp in the cylinders, preventing premature combustion?

    Compression ignition premature !

    Never it's the other way around , diesel has knock due to delayed combustion due to it's poor ignitability .

    Petrol is premature and has to be delayed hense high Octane fuel , not too much ignition advance and cooler spark plugs as not to glow and ignite the petrol prematurely causing predetination ignition 'pinking' .

    You need to find where it goes, someone has been in there and replaced some vacuum hoses already (orange hoses) , google for a vacuum diagram for your car and trace the lines through to see what has been disconnected. You said earlier the car is in limp mode - are you sure the VNT actuator is connected to the N75 valve.
