Hi, I’ve searched for this but not found anything so apologies if it has come up already. My Q7 has started showing a reduce oil level message, though no oil has been added for some time. Is this just likely to be a fault with the sensor? Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks.

If you have milage and how you drive you may get a more informed reply. I used about 1lt in 7000 miles but I did short journey driven in quite a sympathetic manner.

I've seen this high oil level on a BMW, it could be the same in your case; if you do shorter trips with engine not getting fully up to heat and active dpf regens the change in diesel injection timing ( injecting diesel on exhaust stroke I think) can end up washing down cylinder walls into the sump and dilute oil and raising level.

Sorry I read it as reduced oil. A trip to the dealers me thinks.

More common sense marques have an injector post engine to heat up the dpf .

    What we're the others thinking...

Had it on my SQ the other week. Did some searching and probably being caused by doing short runs - or not enough longer runs. I took mine out for an hour and the warning remained on, but when I got back in after an hour or 2 it went off and has not been on since. Mine's not had any oil in since new. Only done 8k miles though

Fuel dilution of oil reduces viscosity and accelerates engine wear, another good reason not to leave oil change services to 20,000 miles.

I’ve just started getting this warning. Will try and get a long run in this week to see if it goes away!

Had it on mine a few times. I reckon it's low usage, or seemed to be the case with mine. I have now swapped the SQ7 over to a Q8 3.0 and not had it on this one - yet!
