Are you sure its not the power steering pump grinding on full lock. I would reckon 120 A would be ok.

OK fair enough - just seems odd that the alternator reacts to steering lock, I was thinking that the belt is now tighter since the replacement alternator has been fitted and the extra belt tension is making the steering pump complain when it is loaded up.

If it's a 1.8 b6 with the two front and 2 rear side mounted bolts, it alternator will mount upside down. Mine was a Valeo I picked up at a parts store and the connectors in the back were 180 degrees from my original. I mounted it oriented with the original connector, seemed like it took a bit more torque to get it all flush than it should have. Sure enough, pull had resistance. Took it off and the pully turned smooth again, flipped it over and mounted it, problem solved.

If they installed it upside down you shouldn't have to pay labor again... Or just do it yourself. Takes about 25 minutes for longitudinal engine (belt facing front of the car). Remove the coolant reservoir, the top radiator hose, put a 17mm wrench on the belt tensioner and pull to the right to release tension and slip the belt off. Remove the 4 12mm bolts, pull the alternator out, remove the 10mm nut and cable from the back of the alternator, remove the harness that's clipped in and flip it over. Reverse the steps to remove it. Several good YouTube videos on the subject and all it takes is a basic socket set, torx keys and a 17mm wrench. I took off the throttle body (4 hex key bolts) and went ahead and replaced them with hex head, so they're less likely to strip.

thanks for advice just ordered a socket set from Amazon these alternators that first choice sent me look worse for wear and in worse condition then my original valeo alternator that was on.

is it easy to replace the pulley on the bosch now i can feel the vibration on full lock is it the pulley or the bearings causing this noise??

    thanks
