just bought one two weeks ago.

    Apart from good history etc....

    1. I would say make sure roof works. Mine did, but I didn’t check rear variable storage box. After a bid of fiddling I came to realise it’s broken. Now it’s stuck roof won’t go down.

    2. Engine bay - check for oil around filler cap and breather, could be signs of high pressure, I have a bit but am told pcv change can sort.

    3. Armrest clips likely broken

Timing belt. All 1.8 and 2.0, doesn't matter if the pope tells you it was changed, no paper work and over 100k on the clock, get it done. These cars are very prone to timing failures beyond a 100k on the timing set. Go ahead and do the full set, chain and tensioner too.
