    Hi All

my my niece has a 1.9 tdi and it spluttered and stopped.
Had a quick look tonight and I can’t see any fuel in the filter .
It was a bit low on fuel but warning light wasn’t on and we’ve put 2 gallons in for good measure.
Im thinking it might be the fuel pump relay . Does anyone know where and which one it is?

Also can I check the relay and pump by removing the supply line from the fuel filter and turning ignition on ? Would I get a flow of derv if all was well?

any thing else obvious I should try?

    cheers

    vin

    Thanks for replying nevo

Ive tried it this evening with the ignition on and turning the engine over but neither pumped any diesel out.
I’m now assuming it’s either the fuel pump relay or the pump itself .
i need to locate the relay. Before I left the car tonight I took a photo of the relays. These are under the dash but I’ve just found out that there may be relays in the plenum chamber and it can also be in there .
Im guessing by the lack of relays in the bank of 6 then they must be under the bonnet ? Any one know which one it is

I would take out the rear seat and get a multimeter on the two outside wires on the pump connector, the inner one's are for the level.the relay is supposed to be in the car under the steering wheel,is there any with 167 printed on?

I took the ECU out of its box in the plenum chamber and found these underneath !
apparently the small one on the right is the fuel pump relay no 395 . It’s superceeded by Audi prt number 4H0 951 253 C which has 646 stamped on it.
the location is j17 . Will be ordering tomorrow from local dealer.

Unclip the ECU and there is a relay carrier underneath.
