This is the thing annoying me about ross tech. Surely if they are going to make a label file it would be compatible with the both the hex net and hex can. It seems they are forcing users of the old trusty cable to buy the new one. Suppose it’s one way to make more money out of us

Yes, to Upgrade from HEX-CAN to HEX-NET is at least $250 which is mental the cost new for the cable is $450. No more mods for me thought the missus will probably be happy. All the new modules Infotainment, Comfort module and central elect seem to have no label.

May put the HEX-CAN up for sale.

I had HEX-CAN cable for many years and just sold it for £250, which was the price I paid for the cable many years ago!

The HEX-V2 cable starts at $199 but it's only 3 VIN's, you can then upgrade to 10 or more but costs extra $$$.

Are you sure the HEX-V2 cable will not give you the very latest label files?

I hadn't seen this only the full HEX-NET version, some investigation needed.

I originally thought the new cable allowed wireless tablet apps to work but looking at the forums it does seem that they have more label files.

I'm sure at some point ross tech will slowly remove support for the old HEX-CAN interface so if you have one now is the time to sell it as it's unlimited VIN's, where as the new one is limited (unless you buy the expensive version)

This was the one I was thinking of.

I can’t see how they can charge that much in today’s market. You have vag can pro, obd11 and Carista as very cheap alternatives and some of them have more functionality as well.
The old cable was unlimited as well now the pro version is $1300. Probably wouldn’t mind it as much if they had up to date label files and more functionality but they don’t seem to.

Does the VCDS software not have new updates from the Hex CAN then ? Slightly annoyed if it is not going to be updated?

I think after some research is the hex can can only write 128bits and the hex net/v2 can do 256bits which is needed for the new vag cars.
It’s not that hex can isn’t supported it’s become obsolete. Probably why things like vag can pro and obd11 have managed to race ahead.

Thanks so does that mean the A6 FL needs 256bits to fully "address" the car which is why some of the usual hacks don't work? Or by newer do you mean even newer models?
