    Hi guys,
the offside driveshaft on my 2008 1.9tdi Sharan is starting to grumble so its time to change it.

My question is where's the best place / make to get it from, dealer only?, and what other parts am I likely to need such as new bolts etc.

I've got a reasonable collection of tools but again are there any that I need to consider buying before I start.

    Cheers.

From memory of doing my clutch a few years back, the bolts holding the shaft to the box are splines. So have you got a set of spline bits?
I’d start with comparing GSF and Eurocarparts for the shaft.

Before you buy one, have you checked the intermediate shafts connection into the gearbox. My 1.9 got quite slack, aparently quite a common fault.

Hi, thanks for the advice. When the weather warms up a bit I'll venture underneath and have a delve around but I know I don't have any spline bits so they may well be an early birthday pressie to myself.

I've had a look on Eurocarparts and elsewhere and the price range is the bit that is making me wonder which to choose as I don't fancy scrabbling around and doing it again in a few years time.

Fingers crossed it'll last until the sun shines.

    Cheers.
