    Hi All,

Grateful for some advice if possible.
I have an Audi A6 C7 MY2012 3.0TDI Quattro - had front tyres changed a couple of days ago.
After driving a few miles - got tyre pressure low warning, fine I thought my fault for not resetting tyre pressures.
Another couple of miles - Fault stop start system.
Pulled into petrol station and filled with fuel and reset the tyre pressure system.
Then when tried to start - key not recognised hold to dash or equivalent.
Since then no warning lights or faults on the DIS but key consistently not recognised to start car.
Have replaced batteries on both main and spare which both open the car and the boot but will not remotely start without holding at dash.
Also checked on MMI still has 3 keys initialised.
Before going down route of dealer - anyone any ideas on this?
The stop start although no fault showing on system has also stopped I assume this is due to the key issue as it would not restart.

I had something similar with my keys.
I bought some batteries at Tesco and after a few weeks it did the same thing so splashed out Duracell’s at £5 a pop and it’s worked for a few months. Put it down to cheapy batteries.
Yours might be a receiver/aerial type problem as I couldn’t even unlock the doors after a few weeks.
Better batteries is worth a try as it’s cheap cause a dealer will charge £50-100 for diagnostic

Unfortunately replaced both batteries with new Duracells - also car opens and closes normally as does the boot.
Either the key receiver has a problem or somehow it needs reinitialised?

It’s sounding more and more like an aerial or receiver for the immobiliser not working well or is not getting enough power.
Essentially the bit where you hold it against the dash is the old immobiliser receiver ring that you get with cars that uses keys to start. If that’s not getting a signal or a confused signal then it’s not gonna work.
It could also be interference from something. My old work put up a mobile mast in the car park and non of my car remotes worked unless I had it next to / against the drivers window.

Had the exact same problem (would open/lock the car etc but msg when trying to start 'key not recognised' so had to hold key next to the designated area on the dash to start) with one of my two keys when I bought the car (used, from Audi).

The bad news potentially is, They had to order and replace the key to resolve.
