Time for new pads

On the way home today, my car flashed up saying it needed new pads. I had rears last year so definitely the front - and I’ve not had any in the 60k miles ive owned her!

Probably going to do it myself. Has anyone tried the ceramic pads from euro car parts?

I bought the EBC red stuff but have not fitted them yet after 115,000 miles. They did not come with the warning wires. I will probably do them at 120,000 miles. Today, the MOT chap at Audi said I had 10% left. Not bad for a first set of pads.

Thanks both. I can’t get to a garage / they can’t get me in when I’m free until Easter leave in a few weeks. I know the answer will depend hugely on driving style, car, type of road etc, but how long after the warning light coming on should I replace them? Basically how long do I have left?

I would say 10%. In my experience the warning light comes on with about 2.5mm or 3 mm left. So 10% is about right. In your case 6k miles. But bear in mind that there may only be one pad with a sensor on each axle or wheel and not all pads will wear at the same rate. So allow 4K miles.
