Took a gamble last weekend and bought a 2002 1.9 TDI Avant via E Bay, seems OK but has a few things need doing, drivers door window switch is bust, all the google and youtube images I can find show a different design of door card with 4 switches (my car has manual windows in the rear), grateful for advice re whether the switch bezel comes out or do I need to take the door card off (how?) and access from inside? cheers (see pic)

ON MY 2002 ALLROAD, the door switch is released by pushing a screwdriver up into the hole on the underside of the door handle (the manual recommends this removal is done first before removing the inside door card - but not essential if you are carefull when pulling up the door card for removal). The two philips screws holding the door card on are at either side of the door, just below the window rubber. The door has to be fully open to see the screw at the hinge side. You SHOULD be able to see the one at the lockside - both are at the SIDES rather than on the inside face of the door card. Caviat - ASSUMING YOUR CAR IS LIKE MY ALLROAD.

The a4 b6/b7 one is very easy to remove. Yours can't be that different.
Screws under the wooden trim, one at the bottom of the door card, and one behind the door grab handle (under a little cover)
