I know there is the specific Forum Accessories, Tyres but I will post here first.

My B7 Estate Sport is due MOT in a week and though I suspect its tyres to pass I want to be prepared should they not.

    Currently fitted at 38K

    Fronts: YS618 235/45ZR17 97W
Rears: Continental ContiSportContact5 235/45R17 94W (the spare is a new one of these on a brand new alloy rim)

All are at least 2mm to the wear blocks.

I read some reports about the YS618's but unlike some I have had absolutely no issues with them wet and dry.

So what are we all fitting.

Some are idots , these are on the softer side with the sidewalls which is easily overcome by juicing up the psi , 14 of these tyres in the family now which includes 3 cars including mine with full sets .

They replaced some quality rubber with the likes of Michelin Pilot Sport 3 and Dunlop Sport Maxx TT .

Believe me I was sceptical and was initially recommended by a remapper and I was going to replace with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 @ £100 a corner .

Completely satisfied even without the bargain price which has gone up as mine cost £138.50 .

You're not a million miles away from me and you're welcome to have a gander .

Too much brand snobbery when it comes to tyres. Most driver wouldn't be able to tell any difference between brands if they didn't know what they were.

My 2011 SE was running on original Continentals till 45k, still over 3mm, but starting to crack.

I should have got the same - i went for latest Michelin Primacy as they had a low noise rating (I'm on the M25 all the time!)

Definitely not that quiet, harder ride, gotta say the handling is pretty good on the upside, especially in torrential rain.

I'll go back to Conti's in another 5 years time
