I have just noticed you say it is a 2009 Touran with a BKC engine and a DPF. The BKC was used in the Touran from 08/03 to 11/06 so a 2009 1.9 with a DPF would have a BLS engine. The DPF detaches from the turbo by a band clip (which is often difficult to re-use) and two people can lift the whole thing off but we build it back up as a bare head as the bulk and weight of a full assembled unit make it difficult to use alignment pins and not damage the gasket by wiggling around.

Again, many thanks for the reply - it is appreciated.
Yes, correct the car has a BLS engine, but the timing belt cover has 'BKC' printed on it hence the confusion. It suggests that the cover has been replaced at some point as the engine number matches the original BLS one on the logbook, and the turbo/intercooler and EGR cooler setup is that of a BLS engine. My apologies for the confusion

Re. the cylinder head removal - that's what I suspected, thanks.

One final question, (if I may). How do you build-up from the bare head with the engine still in the car? Or is this why the DPF needs to come out?

    Thanks again.
