I’m looking to get a new A6 (C7) with the Tech Pack and have a few qeuestion for the experts out there. Will I still be able to connect my old iPod with my music on through the mmi interface? Could I also connect my iPhone 6 for Spotify at the same time or would I need to unplug one and plug the other in?

ive got a 128GB iPod almost full with music so putting it onto SD cards I guess isnt an option as two won’t be big enough

    thanks

I use an iPod for my music and it is fine. I can also have my phone connected and if I want I can use it to play music over Bluetooth. You can have both connected and choose which source to use. Don’t use Spotify so can’t answer that.

Hi. As said, no problem with an old iPod and phone. There are 2 USB ports in the arm rest. Connect iPod using one of them and Bluetooth for the phone. On the MMI select media then the device. Not sure about streaming from the phone, you may need to remove any music from it first as the car appears to select music as a default. If you use shuffle on the iPod I think you need to do that via the MMI menu. Also it's my understanding that music on SD cards needs to be in a different format than imusic Wav I think. Also if you have the tech pack you have 10G on the HDD for music loaded via SD.

Interesting! I have an old iPod and it doesn't want to play with my car. I have tried various cables - genuine Apple included, and I have tried both USB ports, but it resolutely refuses to communicate. I see the Audi logo on the screen, but that's as far as it goes.

I wonder if there is a minimum software level on the iPod the car needs to be able to connect? If so, it might just be that my old iPod is too old?

I have a 2nd generation iPod nano (aluminium finish, flat screen, around 2007) that will not play on my 2017 C7 with Tech Pack (it did on my pre FL C7), but my wife's 4th generation iPod nano will. That's the curved screen iPod model without radio built in, from about 2009.

We also have a couple of the 4th Gen iPod that works great (although I no longer use mine as its too small to hold whole music collection).

Mine is a classic iPod with the scroll wheel - I think it's 80Gb. It worked fine in my 2012 A6 with AMI but the facelift A6 I have now is beyond its capabilities to comprehend

    Thanks all

sounds like my Bose will have lots of music to play

I also noted the spec now includes SDXC cards, so those can take the place of the iPod of needed. I may also get the album art work too.
