I recently had the remap fix to my 2009 A4 Avant SE 170 with 72K miles. Before completing the fix, the Audi main dealers ran a diagnostic test and no faults were identified. However, the technician said that he noticed a very slight oil leak from the EGR valve. The car is running perfectly but I am slightly concerned that this leak, which never makes it to the garage floor, could be the start of problems with the EGR valve. Any thoughts and advice would be appreciated.

Why have the 'fix' in the first place regarding the bad press ?

Thanks Niall....yes, I think sweat is a better description than leak.

    Thanks for your response.
After being quite cynical about the fix, I was re-assured when Audi provided a 2 year or up to 160K " warranty " on the vulnerable parts.

Interesting as last few services audi mentioned about a 'leaking' EGR valve, mine was remapped just when outside of warranty. Heard about many who had the recent emissions ECU update applied getting knackered EGR valves, avoided with mine. Looking to have valve done soon though I think.

Thanks for reply. From other replies, I hope that the small sweat at my EGR valve will not become an issue. The car is running very well since the 'fix'......I do mostly long journeys. However, I suspect that the main dealer who did the 'fix' was probably keeping themselves and Audi/VW right in case I have a problem with the EGR valve before the so-called "warranty" expires.

The oil emanating from the EGR valve is not from the valve itself, it is condensed oil vapour in the charge air system from the turbo and the crankcase ventilation system, it is just that at the EGR valve it can weep out and become visible as seals age and clip junctions wear.

Sounds like they are just trying to make work for themselves then! Left mine and have not had the emissions scandal ECU update done, have heard that screwed a lot of EGR’s
