As some of you may know from my previous thread, I’ve been having problems with something draining the battery on my 2005 A6. The garage think it is the CD changer which is faulty. I don’t know how the electrics in the vehicle work, but if I remove/replace the changer, should that solve it, or is the power component of it separate?

Next question is anyone selling a 2G AMI unit? Seems pointless replacing with another CD changer, I may as well try and find a second hand AMI unit.

You would need a most loop bridge to get the MMI back up and running.

They can got got on eBay.

I’ve seen a few threads on VNSmedia. Does anyone know if I could remove my faulty CD changer and just put a VNSmedia unit in instead? Would everything still work without the Changer in line?

Yes, it should work, but check with vns just in case(there is no spec info on website), if memory correct, it was 2g low "thing" that you needed to keep cd, but could be wrong. Oem works with and without!

Yes that’s the unit I’m after. I guess really I need to remove the CD changer first and then put in a MOST loop bridge as Dan suggested. See if that cures the battery drain issue, then add the VNS Media after that.

Yep, thats good plan, without loop you can do trick with tape or with tube...but proper loop is best and may become handy in future also!

I have an AMI unit coming up for sale within the next week. I purchased it brand new and would come with power and fibre cables.

Apple lightening lead and USB as well.

would be looking for £250 delivered

This could replace the CD multiplayer or in my case I fitted it alongside.

will also have a full genuine 2G dab kit available as well with everything from the unit, bracket amplifier and cables. basically everything you need apart from an antenna. mine being an Avant, I just used the one built into the rear quarter.

Haven't thought about prices yet, just need to get these removed from the car before I sell it

Thanks Simon, I will bear that in mind. I have to admit that I’m tempted to order the VNS Media unit. Integrates into the MMI without any coding and has the added benefit of built in Bluetooth streaming as well. It’s around £200

Ooh. How do I do that? I’m awaiting delivery of the VNS Media box, and when I spoke to them, they said simply unplug the CD Changer and plug into their box.
