    Hi, I’m Simon, and I’m a bit of a car novice, to be honest. I’ve had my A6 for the last five years through school and uni, but when I got a job four months ago, I started to use the car more. It’s an automatic, 2008 reg with 80k on the clock.
    In the last month or so, there has been a couple of occasions where I have started the engine, try to move and it judders. After about 10 mph it's smooth again. Seems it have a problem to get moving.
    It happens more often, and I know if I take it to a garage, they will want fit brand new gearbox for £5k I cannot afford. Do you have any idea of what it might be? I have no clue and hoping it’s not an expensive fix. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
    Thanks, Simon.

    Damp weather and clutches some times play up what engine box do you have? Stick a tank of bp ultimate or equivalent in and see what happens.

    @swalker Thanks for this tip. Are you sure it won't hurt if that's not the weather condition?

    I've got the 2.0 TDI

    @lynalldiscovery

    Doesn't look like there is any difference between. ;/

    @chefnikosdaniil

    Will try that! Haven't used that ever before. Thanks for the tip as well.

    I missed the auto bit... Damp weather can effect clutch plates so not applicable to you. I was thinking engine could be choking up premium fuels do make a huge difference when running supermarket for too long.

    Dual mass flywheel and clutch. The Auto in the 2.0 isn't a gearbox, it is a CVT. Despite what many think, does have a DMF and a 7 plate clutch. Around £700 of work.
