I’m looking at changing my second car to a golf R dsg, as my brother has just lost his job and as a result his company car. My 350z is no use to him as it’s far from practical and he needs a auto.

Tbh I hate buying used cars which is why I lease my daily, but he’s had a rough time and I want to help him out.

Ive been looking a golf R dsg’s on autotrader on eBay, but prices are all over the place and its really confusing. In most cases private cars are more expensive than Volkswagen approved used.

The one auction I actually seen complete on eBay was for a 2015 lapiz blue cat d car that sold for £15,100 yesterday. The other cars are just relisted over and over.

Generally 2014 cars with around 30-40k miles and similar spec are priced anywhere from £17,000-£24,000. Which seems unusual.

Theyre great cars cars but I don’t understand why someone would pay £24k for a 2014 when you can lease a new mk7.5 for less than £300 a month?

I would appreciate advice, especially from anyone who has recently sold or bought a 2014/15 Golf R, as to what price cars are actually selling for.

    Thanks

    Hi Kev,

I think its to do with the optional extras on the car, color and number of doors. manual/auto.

You could pick up a Golf R 2014 5 DR 30k standard for around 19.5k used. With extras it could fetch around 24k (Leather seats, keyless entry, DCC, rear camera, pan roof, discover pro...etc)

I think prices are are beginning to soften due to do number of cars on the market. I approached a guy on eBay who had his 2015 lapiz blue dsg, 3 door, dsg up for £18k, to see if he was interested in taking my car in px.

He wasn’t but said he would take £15,500 as he was getting offers betten £12-£14k from dealers. He ended up selling to a dealer just befor I sold my car. The car is now on autotrader for £19k with the dealer.
