    Hi Forum

Hoping for some advice. I have 2005 Bora TDI and the dreaded central locking is playing up. Passenger rear door will not open - have tried various permutations. Managed to get door card removed with door in closed position. Pulled the cables, pushed the rods and poked the leavers (through holes) and removed / refitted the fuse. I have “tapped” door inside and out with rubber hammer - no joy (but hammering the troublesome door was therapeutic). Although, after this I could hear some motor movement in the stuck lock. And, oddly after all this attention when I fiddle with the stuck lock it triggers the central locking in the other doors (as if I pressed the remote).

I am wondering if this development suggests an electrical fault - maybe still in the lock module but at least I have a symptom to diagnose. From what I have seen on line, this isn’t uncommon and wondered if there is anything anyone can advise.

And I am still stumped on how to get the door open.

    Thanks Bertie

The door lock has become faulty. You will need to change the lock to cure the system.

You break through the casing in a certain place and 'walk' using two flat bladed screwdrivers, a white plastic cog wheel .

My way of opening the door is, open the front door see how the door bolted on either on the pillar or on the door, undue the bolts, pull the door out and support the weight of the door, stop it from being dropping, take off the door card and that will give you access to the lock.

    Thank you both so much
I had no idea what a pain in the tailgate this is
Sounds a poor design that there is no way to spring the lock by hand from inside the door
