    Hi Everybody,

As the entry topic I think it is very interesting symptom that my Passat B6 produces from the moment when a jump start was done in a parking place (used jump starter apparatus).
I know it was my mistake to leave lights on at an airport parking, and of course when returned 2 days later the battery was totally flat, I had to use the emergency key to get in and requested a jump start at the parking customer service.

From that point I have ABS/ESP lights on steady. The aft fog and reverse lights does not work however both bulbs and fuses are fine. The most interesting symptom when I open a driver door on right side the display shows the left door open! The aft doors indication is normal.
I checked all related fuses, they are ok. Finally disconnected the battery for 10 minutes, no change, everything remained the same.

By reading fault codes I found these ones:
    In ABS system:
    - 01044 Control module incorrectly Coded
    - 01299 Diagnostic Interface for Data Bus (J533)

    The OBDII codes:
    - 01502 Bulb for left fog light
    - 01376 Engine Speed signal for injection Pump.

I assume there is some ECU software problem after the jump start and the best place probably a VW official retail garage to test/upload the ECU software.

My question is, has anybody had the same or similar problem? I would appreciate if you could share your experience.
    Thank you.

When you had the battery disconnected did you touch the leads together? That sometimes clears faults, but you'll need to take it for a short drive to clear any that it in turn brings up.

    Always worth a try.

No, I did not do it. However I'm worry about it - to touch the two leads together, not sure but it may cause more serious problem (?) to the computers . Thanks anyway for the tip, I will consider it.

As long as the leads aren't touching the battery posts, touching them together has a similar effect as rebooting your computer in the same way - for example, on a laptop, if it locks up, it helps to disconnect it from the mains, remove the battery, and press the on/off switch for a few seconds. Connect everything up again, turn on, and it often clears out any bugs.

It certainly won't do any harm - if you're really worried, do a search.

According to VW retailer garage probably the battery jump spiked and changed the control module and after restart it went to work in the continental (left hand drive) mode. This caused all the 5 symptoms I mentioned in my message ie.: showing the left side door open as it is the driver side in EU, the rear fog light and reverse lights are on the opposite side, and the ABS coding is different in a left hand drive car.

The good news is after the software reload everything worked fine.
The lesson I learned do not leave the lights on if you do not want to pay hundred quid to fix it.

I made the two leads touching, but I got to the same situation - all faults remained. The final solution was the software reload in the control unit made by the technician in the VW garage.

Thanks for the follow-up, touching the two leads doesn't always work, but it's worth a try and doesn't cost anything.
