Finally worked out Amazon Musics problem

After what can only be described as 6 months of annoyingly bad performance first getting Napster then Amazon Music working on the Audi MMI I finally think I have worked out the problem.
The symptoms are the application seem to take forever to load content, nearly always, I get where I'm going before the music starts or if it does it's constantly stopping and buffering.
What I noticed today was like many I have my WIFI turned off normally for security reasons and by default Android won't download update applications on Cell network to avoid using all my data allowance so the second I get in the car and turn the WIFI on the Play app has a field day! It was updating over 100 application and given my understanding, Audi cheap skated us in terms of going 3G rather than 4G and obviously the google maps get priority this meant the Amazon app was totally starved of network.
The second I forced the play app to stop all updates guess what... The music started to work all be it a little buffery. Later at home I connected to WIFI and updates everything and did some more journeys and everything worked perfectly...

So moral of the story is make sure everything is up to date on phone before setting out on a journey. If for no other reason, today I spend just under a 1/2 GB of my DataInside updating apps on phone while waiting for Amazon music to start!

It's a shame Audi doesn't really support their MMI App actively this as had someone from Audi done just a few hours testing they could have spotted this and saved me 6 months bad customer experience.

I do not use Napster/Amazon Music, but the Q7 (4M) MMI with your own SIM uses 4G (LTE). If you have only 3G, maybe the coverage is not great in your area, or you should take the car to the dealer to have a look at it.
