Just a gentle reminder to our UK members that it is the annual Poppy appeal and as buying a poppy in the street/shops seems to be impossible these days, there are other ways to support the appeal such as with a poppy wallpaper for your mobile and/or desk top. Please visit http://www.royalbritishlegion.co.uk/ and make a donation, no matter how small. With our soldiers being wounded and killed on an almost daily basis in Iraq and Afghanistan, the legion needs the money more now than it has done for many years.

    Indeed, Well done lads.

Having lost my father, Grandfather, three Uncles and a step Uncle, in the numerous wars, WW1/WW2 Falklands, Sierra Leone, Kosovo and Afghanistan. I support these 500% and urge every single one of you to donate, £5. The price of two pints of beer.

It's much needed to look after the vets which are living in inadaquate conditions, after defending our country, to give you a better life.

That time is almost upon us once again.

Doesn't seem possible that a year has passed.

I wont harp on about things, but please, spare a thought for those who keep (and have kept) us safe, wherever they may be, whatever they may be doing.

    Last year's appeal raised £34,986,938.

My sig has once again been changed to reflect the occasion - clicking it will take you to the "New ways to support" page where you have a number of different ways to make a donation.

It never ceases to amaze me, where I work, we had a two minute silence today, marked by the sounding of our fire alarm at 1100 to mark the start and again at 1102 to mark the end.
The e mail was distributed to all staff.
Where I work a chap opposite me stood up with head bowed just as I did, however several people just stayed sat on their corpulent backsides and one person just carried on as normal.
Why is it that people just can't give two minutes to remember those who did not return home to their families?
It's not as if we're perhaps remembering the WW1 veterans and WW2 veterans and perhaps the younger people do not relate to things which happened many years before, we are also talking about young men and women who have died in both Iraq and Afghanistan in the service of our country, I think that they are just not bothered or too ignorant to care a jot, this is from university educated people who you would think have the intellect to realise that it is important to honour our war dead.
Their actions sicken me to the core of my soul and I have nothing but utter contempt for these reprehensible morons.
