Bit early I know but that gives you all time to save a few pennies and show some love.

My sig links to the official website of the "Poppy Appeal" arm of the British Legion - have a look around see where this money goes.

This is guaranteed to get me fired up, I go the Annual Remembrance Day service in the Cenotaph in Southampton every year in honour of all the people who have given their lives in the service of their country both in the armed forces and as civilians.
Last year a woman stood behind us and during the minute's silence and during the Kohima Prayer she just beat her gums throughout, during the National Anthem she just sauntered around talking and completely spoiled the sense of respect such a ceremony invokes.
I frankly couldn't understand why she had attended.
Eventually somebody politely but firmly told her either to belt up or **** off, a response which illicited a loud round of applause afterwards.

Brave brave men a different breed to today. I know of a couple of places in the Dordogne where resistance people died and the graves are immaculate kept all the time, Despite there remoteness!. Allways stop to pay respect when passing

If it's not too crass, would you mind taking some photographs?

This thread has reminded me of a school trip in the seventies, to the battlefields & cemetries in Belguim and northern France. I grew-up that week and alot of others did too. The coach ride home I remember being a very subdued affair.
I took my children when they were old enough to understand.
I wish it was a compulsary part of schooling as nothing drives home the horror of war like acctually being there.
    Gentlemen I salute You!

General views of the ceremony and the area if you could, without looking too "paparazzi" and out of place.

Nothing like rows and rows of people in one spot at the same time all showing respect for the same thing.

It doesn't happen enough. There's a distinct lack of respect in the country today.
