    Hello,

    Audi A6 Allroad 11/2006, 3.0 tdi 233 bhp

Recently I had to remove the airbag to do some work so I had to disconnect the battery first, which being in the boot meant I had to open the tailgate and with no power could not close it. I had to wait a couple of weeks for parts and the boot was open continuously in the garage.

When the work was finished the tailgate would close electrically as before but would not open without a generous physical assistance. I have changed the struts, no change. The tailgate is powered by two electric motors one on each side of the car situated under the headlining. Seeing as the motors had no electrical power to them and the struts were supporting the weight I am surprised the motors could have been affected while the boot was open.

Can anyone tell me if both motors open and close the tailgate or does one open and the other close, they are very expensive to replace and it closes and locks fine, and if there is just one motor which opens which side is it, I don't want to buy two if one will suffice?

I see that there are second hand motors available and the sellers say are bench tested, if that is the case, how does one bench test the motors?

    Suggestions appreciated,

    Regards,

    Michael

I do still have both motors for sale if you looking for some and no problem shipping to France, when I sold my A6 last year I removed the retrofitted electric tailgate, and these are from my A6 and were fully working when removed.

Hello, Thanks for the reply. I do not know if the fault is with one or both motors or with the controller, not sure how I find out. Were they straightforward to remove? Part numbers 4F9959945 and 4F9959946, how old are they? As I said it closes and latches fine just problematic opening. Please PM me with the price, I may take it to Audi to have the module codes read.

    Regards,

    Michael
