I agree John, mine starts ticking over at 1000rpm rather than about 800rpm. A light or message on the dash would be a much better idea but then again so would a dipstick

Just heard back from Wearside Audi, turns out the oil level sensor was faulty and oil had ran into the electrical connection/plug giving irrational readings. Covered under warranty thank god!!

Glad it’s all sorted. This is more the reason they should put a normal dipstick in these cars. Can’t trust these electronic gauges. Don’t even trust the fuel gauge sometimes 😄

Don’t know why they don’t have a normal dipstick as a backup and my fuel gauge is also temperamental anyway the nice man from Audi also said my front brake pads were 80% worn and quoted £179 to replace the front pads just got a price from euro parts for £40 and should only take a couple of hours to fit....

If it takes you a couple of hours you must be having too many coffee breaks, I did mine last year on driveway in about 45 mins, that's including a coffee between wheels.
BTW when you get pads double check you get wear sensor, or if your lucky your current sensor hasn't worn through yet. The sensor is just a loop of wire, simple but it works.

Just read the handbook and it says that when the dpf is regenerating there will be a warning light on the dash. In 7 years of driving my 3.0tdi, I have never seen the lamp light up. Can anyone confirm that they have see the lamp light up.

Hi read in a thread, but can't find it at the moment, that the light only comes on if the DPF is 50% or more blocked. Would kind of make sense as mine has never come on in over 2 years, and I know it's done regens ! Any Audi tech that can enlighten us ?
