Hi I own a golf mk 6 1.6 tdi bluemotion DSG 7 speed for nearly 3 years now is been the perfect car till last year August when I had it serviced , since then the fuel consumption started to grow as it was doing 50+ mpg and now is doing 35mpg average . Can anybody please advise me what can I do to return it to 50+ mpg ? It has full vw service history and 84k miles on the clock . Driving nice and slow no hills or bad traffic doing about 24 miles a day to work and back .
    Thank you
    Andy

I am driving 70% in 40 mile zone (doing 40 ) and 30% national speed limit doing 60-70 . the car has 2x nexen eco blue tires on front 2x goodyear eficient grip performance on the back with the right pressure in them . I usually fill up at shell or esso and every now and then fill up with premium diesel . last service had oil (quantum 3 long life ) and oil filter bosch , air filter bosch fuel filter man and liquid molly diesel purge used when replaced the filter, had gearbox oil replaced as recommended by vw at 80k , coolant replaced , brake fluid replaced , car is not sowing any errors or lights on dash and drives like new is just very thirsty . ANY ADVICE WELCOMED . Thank you

Something desn't sound right. Get it scanned for codes, because you don't always get warning lights. Did it have the emissions 'fix'?

no emissions fix I refuse it as It was working fine and have read about people complaining of things going wrong after having the 'fix' . I had the diagnostics at a local garage (vw specialists ) and no errors . they sad that everything is fine with the car and never seen a golf with such poor mpg (they advice me to fill up with shell v-power and go on a longer trip with it in sport mode , done that 120 miles trip at 70-80 mi/h no change in mpg ) I also have a seat toledo with same engine and is doing 48-50 mpg on same trip (been using the seat lately as is more economical) with golf I am doing 350 miles per tank same tank on toledo gets me 550-600 miles

The dsg gearbox in drive sometimes changes gears at very low rpm if accelerating nice and slow at 35 miles/h is changing in 6th gear and it is at 1000rpm witch I think is to low as all car is vibrating . If I floor it is changing gears at 4000rpm . is there any chance that the dsg gear selector module is not working properly anymore ? gearbox has been serviced last year since then is doing poor mpg

If DSG machtronics module is at fault. It should give a fault code when diagnosed ?

    Hi
I've check on the vw website if its sowing as it had the fix and its saying the service was not done and to contact them to book it in for the ''fix" . should I book it in for the emission service or not ?

(We would like to reassure you that independent testing authorities have confirmed that there will be no negative impact on engine performance, maximum torque, fuel consumption, noise and CO2 emissions as a result of having this update applied. )

    Hi
I checked on the vw site and is still sowing as it didn't have the fix . I had a letter of them in December about the emission scandal saying to book it in . Should I give it a go and take it in for the ,,FIx" ? I have herd people with good and bad reviews . what can go wrong ?

If you have read back on this site or others you will see that having the emissions recall carried out is a disastrous idea.
