    Hi
does anyone know what this symbol means? It's like an engine with a circle, but does not appear in the symbol list in the manual. It's a Q7 e-tron.
Symbol only appears for a few minutes, mostly in the morning as far as I can see, then goes away.
    Thanks!
    Hugh

Over at AudiWorld-forums I had the exact same question and was told it is the engine running to charge the batteries.

48.4mpg long term - nice! What does the overall net position look like with cost of fuel+electricity thrown in (I’m assuming the mpg only reflects fuel use and electricity input is “free” in that calculation)? That’s probably a 50% efficiency gain on normal 272PS diesel just on the fuel. Obviously depends on driving use case, yada yada...

Time will tell on the real cost, but electricity @ night rate is low cost energy! It's the reverse of normal motoring economics (i.e. short trips more cost effective), the e-tron is great for short trip/ city driving, so overall I do about 50% of driving on electric, with a few long commutes of 130km every week.

But leaving aside the cost, it's the smoothness & silence that becomes addictive. Moving off on electric power feels so "normal" after a few weeks that driving a fully ICE feels odd.

As many others have said, the Q7 e-tron is a really well engineered hybrid, I am surprised Audi do not make more noise about it...

They probably don’t make more noise about it because it’s a 5 seater config, until they can work out how to make it a 7 seater it’s just a big electric 5 seater which is not as niche as the former.

I wonder if it's because they won't be able to keep up with demand? I thought I read somewhere that VW had to close their order book for Golf GTE's because demand outstripped production capacity by such an extent that waiting lists got ridiculous!
