Hi, looking for some help regarding powering an Apple CarPlay radio. Sons GF has a Polo GTI (2012)
Got it fitted but when the cars ignition is turned off and the car is locked the radio is still powered up, after looking on the internet we found that you need to connect a separate power wire from the fuse box. Problem is we have no idea which fuse to use as we need one that works when the ignition is on , but turns the radio off when the key is out. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated , thanks .

you can get after market wiring convertors which is probally the easiest option

It will convert from Volkswagen wiring to whatever standard the radio has

    Every car is different

An old rule of thumb was the biggest red wire had the power from the ignition & the smaller red or power wire was for the backlight on the radio to come on when you put the car lights on

However go to Halfords or Amazon, local car radio shop etc the wiring kit to ISO standard isn't dear ...................... but you need to find out what wiring standard the radio has VW Polo CD radio stereo wiring harness adapter lead: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics this gives you an idea

Thanks for the reply Niall, we fitted the head unit with a aftermarket wiring connector , the only problem we had was that we had to run a separate feed to it as the unit wasn’t switching off when the key was out with just connecting it up with the wire connector, so I made up a test light and found a fuse that wasn’t always live ,only when ignition was on , used a piggyback fuse and run the new cable straight to the red coming out the unit. Now working fine thanks .
