I fitted some r line clocks to my last passat and wanted milage to match so I contacted a milage correction guy. He could not belive I wanted milage increasing from 90000 to 170000. He said I was the first person he had ever done that did not want milage turning back. There must be millions of cars out there with wrong milage.

It’s at least getting easy to catch them out now. You got mot data, electronic service history and if you have the right diag tool then discrepancy between the modules in the car.
But like most things where there is a will there’s a way.

If they were caught and punished they may stop but they arn’t caught or punished and won’t stop. There are people out there who will clock cars until you cut their balls off for doing it and even that would not stop some of them... Part of the problem is the buyer, many can’t help themselves trying to find a bargain and when they see what they think is one, they become blinded, until reality pokes a stick in their eyes but then it is all someone’s else’s fault, they are just a victim, the “snowflake” generation.....

Clocking in modern days is probably more to do with PCP and lease deals been thrown down our throats - all advertised at stupidly low rates but 5000 - 10,000 miles per annum.

Dealer clocking that used to happen to make more money is harder as the MOT info has been online for a few years now. So now, Joe Public are getting their own back on the dealers.... but of course then the next buyer is caught out.
