08 Sharan intermittant unlock problem

Hi all, my Dad has an 08 reg Sharan 1.9tdi. He has an intermittent problem with it not unlocking on the key button. Key has new batteries. Could it be dreaded door wiring problem??

Could be anything, door jamb wiring, door lock unit, central electrics unit etc. Start by getting a fault code scan of the full vehicle, printed results, clearing of codes, test the locks and a re-read to see what comes back.

Will do fella, just wondered if there was a known 'problem'. Has to unlock it with the door lock then alarm goes off. LOL Thanks.

The door lock is not communicating, a code read and then some diagnostic checking of the measuring blocks by an experienced technician should point to the fault.
