What are you using to scan the car? if it is going into limp mode there should be a code logged. Also what year, engine code (PD or common rail) , mileage etc, would help.

If it is going into limp mode and the coil light is on, your reader is missing the code.

I took it back to the garage that fitted new egr they did get a egr fault show again they kept it for few hrs then said see how that goes. Literally 10 miles down road happened again but they said no fault code showing again. Took it to another garage that pit it on their diagnostics machine and no code however its had coil light and idle few times.
Its a 2010 got 135000 on clock. Its not a sport just standard diesel 2.0tdi.

Taken it back to garage who fitted egr and they got no fault code so i took it to a more modern garage they put their diagnostics on it and they got no code either yet the cars coil light and limp mode has happened at least 5 times.

If the light is on a code is at home, you need to find someone with proper diagnostic equipment, not just generic ODDII.
