I find the screen needs a good scrub every now and then - a lot of dirt and rubbish lands on it from road use, especially motorway in winter. I use ordinary car shampoo and a white, softer washing up scourer used gently and definitely only on the glass. Clean the blade as well but use a soft cloth and the same shampoo. Make sure the screen is wet before first use. Mine was a lot quieter after this treatment.

You do get a lot of traffic film, oil and grease thrown up while driving. What my father taught me is to clean the screen with methylated spirits on a kitchen towel and the wiper blades front and rear. Cleaning he blades will make the towel go black that's normal its just the rubber coming off. I've never had a problem with noisy wipers. Methylated spirits is freely available I get mind from B&Q £3.87 500ml or Tesco £2.33 250ml, Google.
