    Hi All,

It's been a while since I've posted so please be patient

I have recently purchased a 2009 A6 Saloon. There are a couple of issues with the car. Firstly the instrument cluster lights are flickering, the Temp & Fuel gauges. Sometimes they go out but mainly flicker. I have done various searches and found that this is down to a circuit board issue and this needs to be repaired. Does this sound right and is it likely to get worse?

My second issue is that the last 2 days I have gone to the car unlocked with the fob you hear the unlocking noises but the drivers door does not unlock but the others do. If I then re-lock and unlock with the fob the door opens fine. What I did notice is that the key fob light flashes quickly for a few seconds, is this some sort of notification that that the battery is running low in the fob or something more serious?

Not sure if this is coincidence but I have also noticed on the internal lock & unlock button next to the internal door handle that both symbols are not always illuminated, sometimes they are and sometimes not. Could these problems be linked?

I have seen on the A5OC that there are internal mechanisms that stick and need to be lubricated. Not sure if the A5's & A6's have the same door set up.

Any Info would be greatly appreciated as I hope I haven't bought a car with a load of electrical gremlins.

    Thanks,

    Woz

This will be of no help but I bought a 2009 Audi A6 Avant 3.0 TFSI S Line yesterday and the passenger door lock will not open with the key fob although it will manually from inside. It locks fine. I haven't found a solution yet but I'm thinking I may need to replace the lock on that side. No idea how much that might cost at an independent garage. If I find anything I'll let you know!

A new lock for the drivers side cost around £140 just for the lock.

A garage age should only charge for one to two hours labour as the window frame needs to be lifted out.

This is not hard job to do for any garage.

Thanks Dan, that's very helpful. Really good to have an idea of how much it will cost.

The micoswitches in the lock are playing up.

The switches are potted into the lock and the whilst they may be a cheap item the work required to remove them without damaging the lock is not worth the time and effort.

Ah good to know. I'm going up to Audi this afternoon - because the menu item to switch on automatic mirror folding is missing - so I can mention this too and actually sound like I know what I'm talking about! Thanks again.

My car was diagnosed last Friday with a faulty door lock. The details were emailed over to the warranty company and I am just waiting on their answer.
The Audi independent specialist I took it to said Autodata only give 1.5 hrs for this job. So working on £140.00 for the lock & 1.5 hrs @ £50 ph labour it could be around the £215.00 +vat mark.

Thanks Woz. The seller knocked £200 off the car's price for the faulty lock so it shouldn't cost me too much then.

    Did you get this fixed?
I might be having a similar issue, but im not sure.
My issues seems to be if i unlock then enter passenger or boot, then lock, and then come back to the car within 5/10 mins unlock I cant get into the drivers door. I end up using the fob to open the window and pull the catch.
But for me, it only seems to happen if I unlock, lock, then unlock within a short period of time.
I cant think of a time when ive come out to the car in the morning for example where I have unlocked and gone straight into the drivers door with a problem.
Someone was saying there is some anti-theft type protection, but surely using the fob, I should ALWAYS be able to unlock the drivers door?

    Thanks

Hi. Yes I did. In the end I just got the whole passenger lock mechanism replaced. Can't remember how much it cost, I think it was approx £300. Seems to be a fairly common problem. Works perfectly since then.
