Name that smoky part

Hi everyone, I could do with a bit of help with my MK 6 TSI.
After being sat idle for a couple of weeks, I took it round the block and found that it has developed a strange smoking habit. It seems to be coming from the very front of the engine, underneath the exhaust manifold, to the right of the distributor. It smells like something is getting way too hot and cooking itself. From what I can see, its coming from a round canister that has a connector coming out the top of it. I don't have any warning lights on the dash and just wondered if anyone could identify the part or knows what it could be causing it.
