Hi, recently bought this car and noticed that it feels really sluggish, I've always driven manual cars up until now so I don't have anything to compare with on how it should feel. I'm turning corners and joining roads and really seem to struggle to get away from approaching cars. I've tried in sports mode and though it's slightly quicker it doesn't seem nowhere near to what it should be. Overall acceleration seems weak/car feels heavy. Mileage is around 38,000.

Could this be related to the emissions scandal and "fix"? I've done a search and the car is coming up with the fix has been applied, have read that many owners are complaining about performance issues since the fix.

No warnings on the dash other than it thinking the boot door is open even though it's closed (will be taking back to dealer to get sorted).

I've only had the car for one day and going to take it back to the dealer to go get it sorted however I'm just wondering if anyone else has had similar experience? Would it be worth rejecting the car altogether? Just hope if I do keep it then I'm not going to be experiencing more (expensive) problems.

    Also to add it's a 2010 plate.

The 140 should feel very responsive, yes the stupid "fix" has caused some cars to suffer terrible loss of power, we have told all our customers to ignore the recall. One with the same car as yours didn't, and the EGR valve failed within days. Before rejecting it (it could well be a decnet car that needs a simple repair) it would be worth getting it scanned for codes by a VW specilsist (IVC in Leeds are good chaps I have known for years) to see what comes up, you will have to pay a test fee (we would be £36) but it would arm you with independent and unbiased information to go back with. If it is down to the recall, this CANNOT be reversed by VW but an independent tuner/specilsist could reload the original software, even with a tweak of the power, but don't let any idiots talk you into having the DPF removed.

Thanks for the info, will look into giving IVC a call. Def won't be removing the DPF, had so many telling me to do it when I had my A3 but thought it would be foolish with all the clamp downs it's getting. Thanks again
