Wifes car stuck on the road with handbrake refusing to release, is there any means of emergency release?
Nothing in the manual and cant find anything on the net.
I said to wife this would be great 100s of miles from home!

Even my land rover has a manual override for a failed EPB.

Without blinking an eye she stole my disco and left me the 90 with a flat battery to get to work, thanks love

No emergency release. You need 2 wires and a car battery to connect them to every motor’s connector to force them open.

Thank you, I will bring my power probe home, didnt realise it was as simple as 2 wires.

Dont put the power on for too long as you can damage the motor internal clutch/drive belt.

Just leave the wires on until you hear that the motor opens. Nothing could happen since you only have 12-14 v

Thanks for the replies but today my diag tool turned up so i never got to try out my power probe, plugged it in wound callipers off and on a few times, done a systems test a couple of times where it motors the callipers on and off and no fault found!
Drove it around it all works fine incl auto release.

So tomorrow Im going to pull the pads and have a general lube up and check the motor and slap some new pads in there.
Then of course as its the wife car teach her how to use the tool in case it plays up again whilst shes out somewhere.

But what happened in the beginning? What caused this block? I am glad that you managed to fix this problem but it’s very strange that you didn’t have any errors on epb.

I havent a clue and not knowing makes me suspicious it will most likely do it again, likely when it peeing with rain dark and cold!
I have read about the motor plastic casing cracking and water getting is so will take a good look at them whilst I have it apart.

Would you know what type of brakes the car has fitted so I can order pads? even going by reg number I am getting two options one for Teve system and the other is ATE brakes
