Aye. That was the main culprit on more than one occasion. But at one point earlier the washer fluid line to the back blew a joint. Lucky not to lose the electronics unit beneath the passenger seat, really. But I digress.
Had the back washer line one also

On my old a4 some thing had rubbed through the plastic tank and caused the same issue as you are having. Luckily it was visible from under the wheel arch once the liner was out. A good clean up and a bit of silicone sealant solved it. I also put some tape in between to stop any further fretting. My mate now has the car and 7 years later still holding up.

Well the plot thickens as they say. Took the car in to Stoke Audi this morning. One and a half hours later they informed me that they had checked the whole system and could not find a leak anywhere. They have now told me to monitor it and get back to them as if it keeps leaking they would have it in overnight to see the reservoir go down for themselves. Good news is that I had free TV coffee and drinking chocolate whilst waiting and they fitted a new strainer to the filler opening plus wash and hoovered the car all free of charge. Excellent service from them and maybe just maybe they inadvertently fixed the problem when checking the tightness of all the piping joints. Will report back in a few days when I have checked the level in the reservoir again.

Well strangely the leak has now reduced from 1 litre per three days to about an egg cup full over two days. Wondering if they "fixed" it by accident or maybe working the headlight washers has done something. Out tonight so will give the headlight washers a few goes then fill up reservoir and check again. Maybe nothing significant but the car was stood for a couple of months prior to me buying it.

The cap is probably letting washer fluid out.

Hi Dan. Do you mean the blue plastic cap where you put the screenwash in? That just clips over a sort of O ring where you put it in and it would not be from the cars motion (swilling around) as the car is just sat on my drive. It certainly seems to have slowed down the leakage a lot since Audi had it but it is still frustratingly not right.

If it’s doing it when stationary then it can’t be the cap.

You ou could get it pressure tested, did Audi do this?

They did not say Dan just that they could not find a leak. Might have to take it back and let them investigate further as you never know where the fluid is ending up.

Is your car an advant?if so then it maybe the rear wash pipe issue.

Check that the radio/MMI (model/year dependant) is not getting wet.

My brother inlaws was leaking into the rear window motor which caused a small burn up in the motor.
