My good lady is reporting that the fans are coming after she stops - in cold weather! Anyone know why that might be or is there a fault that needs a fix?

If the car is with diesel engine, this is caused by ended or interupted DPF regeneration cycle (no action required). If petrol, you have to look into it.

Tanks guys. It is a diesel. Used on short trips during the day - visiting patients - followed by a 20 ice journey home. DPF purge sounds familiar.

Thanks M1tchy - one thing she is not scared of is the 'loud pedal' and a motorway run.
