It does not have to be anywhere dodgy that uses incorrect chemical composition or fails to properly rinse a car after washing. Even some of the shelf brake cleaners can cause havoc on top coats if left for too long or not rinsed of properly.

I can’t think where that has happened- it did get a service wash when the oil pressure sensor was done.
I love misano red and I’m really hoping this is not a sign of things to come .

Wonder wheels is probably the worse. It’s fine if the wheel is new and lacquer isn’t broken/chipped but I found out the hard way on my old car. Lacquer peeling on wheels after a few washes.

Looks to me as if it has had a repair and it's not been prepared properly. My dad's passat has had the same issue on the door as a result of a dodgy repair. The only way to get it resolved will be to remove the clear coat and spray it again. I recommend a proper body shop does this not a scratch repair company as they don't tend to use 2k paint.

At least it’s still under warranty until March !
If my experience of this is anything to go by you'll be lucky to get this done under warranty. Whatever you do, don't mention that it could be a stone chip. They will not take any responsibility if they think it's caused by "an external" issue, this can be decided without an Audi guy even seeing it.

    Any paint experts? opinions appreciated.

So finally after 6 weeks they say that this is covered by the warranty.
In my opinion it’s pretty shocking service from my particular dealer and has put me off using them in the future . Correspondence was coming over from Germany and it was taking a week for him to ask me the queries.
They did say that they are getting a lot more paintwork claims of late - and several of them have not been honoured.

I find the paintwork is quite poor on modern cars in general.
My mate runs a paint shop and was told on flat colours Audi recommends 2 coats of colour then lacquer and in his experience it’s should be 3 coats or more. Having more coats gives it strength and durability. My car with 25k has more stone chips on the front bumper than my old golf did at 100k and it’s not like I tailgate everyone everywhere I go.

It’s pretty shocking. I just can’t believe the process . It’s obviously peeling but they still mess you around approving it .

My car was 3 weeks old when the paint in the back bumper near the wheel arch was peeling. Took them about 2-3 months to authorise and paint it.
