    MPG sounds normal to me. Like mine you bought a very,very low mileage car - even more so as 35k miles over 18 years vs mine which was 31k over 15 years. If this has been lots of short trips it really needs to be run hard and long before the engine 'loosens up' a bit. Mine has averaged 35mpg over 2 years mostly M-way driving. Short urban trips it's not much over 20mpg. Also MPG suffers in winter due to longer warm up times. I've got the standard audio and I find it pretty good for a car system but if you like your music very loud and with lots of bass I can see why it may be found wanting. Not found a problem with the remote apart from when the battery gets old - isn't it a radio transmitter and not infra red so not effected by window tint's.

    Thanks for all the replies! I’ll give it some time and keep an eye on the MPG, we’ve not been on a long motorway journey yet so will see what it returns then.

    I’ve changed the batteries in both remotes and it still only works when next to the passenger/drivers window, I’m sure it’s the tints as with the passenger windows down it’s much better!!!

    Had a chat the other day with a lndrover mechanic. He said the bio fuel splits out overnight and on short journeys the car basicalky runs on this. In turn rings and injectors gum up and its a downward spiral. He said he would regularly do the first service and the oil would be like tar.. he recomended a cleaner, a blast up the motorway in 3rd and to only use bp or Texaco guessing he ment the dear stuff...

    Bio is 5% max in diesel so very unlikely to be a problem and as soon as the car starts moving it will get mixed up ( that's even if it gets 'split overnight' which I very much doubt as it would be also split in the storage tanks under the forecourt). First service always results in dirty oil as the rings haven't bedded in perfect and blow-by combustion particulates get into the oil but nothing to do with bio oil. Agree though that diesels need to be driven hard to keep them clean and short trips kill modern diesels.

    Just did a 13 mile journey, a mix of suburban driving (30mph limits) and dual
    carriageway (50mph limits) - trip computer shows 28.8mpg so I’m a lot happier!! Just need to get used to the auto diesel characteristics I guess!!

    I will be taking the car for a regular motorway run at least once a month, even if it’s just a pleasure trip for me with no kids in the car!!!

    Fair point he did talk a good game, suppose he had to the price he quoted for a service....
